Global PA Association & Training Academy was established by Rosemary Parr in 2006. As a Professional Membership Association and Training Academy we have educational links to two of the UK's top Universities - Kingston University Business School & Birkbeck, University of London.  We are also partners with the ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management) which is part of City and Guilds so we can offer Executive & Personal Assistants the highest qualifications and opportunities for career development possible.  We 'walk our talk' and campaign tirelessly for recognition and opportunities for professional development for hard working Executive Assistants, Personal Assistants and Secretaries across the globe.  We are committed to developing the motivation and confidence of people like you, office professionals across the globe, and improving your opportunities for career progression. Our members come from the UK, Europe, Middle East, Far East and Australia.

Global PA Association – Connecting and Empowering Office Professionals

From the original launch of Global PA in April 2007 at the BT Tower in London sponsored by BT plc, we have made big inroads into challenging the working landscape for Secretaries, PAs and EAs. In 2009 we partnered with Kingston University Business School, Centre for Research in Employment, Skills and Society, to undertake the very first detailed academic research into the Secretarial/PA role; a groundbreaking study published in 2009. One aspect of the research found that many did not believe their job enabled them to use their full abilities, indicating many organisations are wasting the talents of the UK's 800,000 office professionals. This academic research was then published in Academic Journals in 2012 as 'Ghetto Occupation in the 21st Century' with 'bleak career prospects'. Our Steering Committee on Best Practice aims to challenge this within companies across the world working with employers on engaging, enhancing and positioning PA talent.

I am passionate in my commitment to improving opportunities within the roles of Executive Assistants, Personal Assistants and Secretaries. I know from personal experience, the immense positive contribution they make to their organisations. Rosemary Parr, Associate Lecturer, Birkeck, University of London, CIPD L&D Practitioner, Motivational Trainer & Coach.

The research also revealed a high proportion of the sector would welcome a professionally recognised PA qualification that could elevate the status of the role and so in partnering with Birkbeck, University of London, we now offer a Certificate in Higher Management for PAs (CertHE ManPAs) designed specifically for Secretaries, PAs & EAs who wish to seize the opportunity to develop their management skills and gain a recognised qualification from one of the UK's top Universities. This qualification is the first year of a degree in Business or Management for aspiring EAs & PAs.
